Defining the Modern Family: The New Normal

The ‘modern family’ isn’t quite like its predecessors. In an era of more diversity and inclusion, the meaning of ‘parenthood’ and ‘family’ are more than what a dictionary might suggest.

The event, hosted by AIG in conjunction with the P3 Network, will offer an evening with an informal panel discussion looking at re-defining the notion of a modern family. Panelists will share their stories of creating their families, and their interactions with their employers, friends and educators, including dealing with school gate bullying among parents, rather than children.

Registration and welcome drinks will be from 17:30, with the panel discussion starting shortly after 18:15. Followed by networking and drinks.

Pride and Parenthood: The LGBTQ perspective

The ‘modern family’ isn’t quite like its predecessors. In an era of more diversity and inclusion, the meaning of ‘parenthood’ and ‘family’ are more than what a dictionary might suggest.

The event, hosted jointly by RBC I-Care and Pride in conjunction with the P3 Network on May 8th, will offer an evening with an informal panel discussion and networking as we draw on the modern and diverse experiences of LGBTQ  and non-LGBTQ parents who will explore what it means to have a “modern” family, talk to the hopes and challenges their families face, all while juggling and balancing work with family life.

The event promises an open and frank discussion on dealing with the “LGBTQ Question” – with guest speakers talking about the tool kits available to parents, and the work being done in schools to create inclusive environments for children.

Registration and welcome drinks will be from 18:00 in the RBC Riverbank House Board room Floor 5th, with the panel discussion starting shortly after 18:30. Followed by networking and drinks.

Time to Talk: Breaking the Silence on Infertility & Miscarriage

The P3 Network, with the support of Simmons & Simmons and Macquarie and their respective gender and LGBT diversity networks, are proud to help break the silence with a ground-breaking panel event discussion about the experiences of women dealing with, and overcoming, infertility and miscarriage.

Despite 1 in 4 pregnancies ending in miscarriage and 1 in 8 couples experiencing infertility, breaking the silence on infertility and pregnancy loss remains taboo. Those who have experienced infertility and pregnancy loss can often find it challenging to share their experiences with others and those who have not experienced either event may react uncomfortably when told of someone’s struggle. Many women suffering these common life events might experience feelings of shame even though most causes of infertility and miscarriage are not under their direct control. Open and compassionate discussions about reproductive difficulties is necessary to lessen self-imposed and perceived social stigma.

The event promises an honest, open and frank discussion about the realities of experiencing infertility or miscarriage. The event will be a safe space for all, and while the discussion focuses on the experiences of women, men are invited and encouraged to attend.

Registration and welcome drinks will be from 18:00, with the panel discussion starting shortly after 18:30. Followed by networking and drinks.
